The creative and digital industries are fast increasing, and with fewer jobs at risk of automation and higher income potential, it is a desirable field to work in.
However, there is a shortage of varied talent entering these fields, with women and people from minority ethnic groups being underrepresented. There are barriers such as a lack of advanced skills, lack of confidence in accessing and navigating the industries, and a lack of social capital which make it difficult to break into this industry.
We ran Decode My Future to combat this underrepresentation and
providing 30 young adults the chance to upskill and gain new skills to build a career in this sector.
Our goal was to create sustainable digital talent in the borough to support local businesses ensuring that the talents are able to compete online and offline.
Our 12 week programme covered the following aspects of web-design and software development.
